About the Role

The coordinator will design and execute outreach strategies that inform and engage communities about project purposes, benefits, and impacts. They will produce a range of communication materials, manage public meetings, and coordinate social‑media campaigns. Working closely with project teams and clients, the coordinator ensures messaging aligns with client priorities. The role also involves monitoring media coverage and guiding responses to public inquiries. • Implement public outreach strategies for infrastructure and water projects. • Lead public involvement tasks to gather community feedback. • Serve as liaison between projects and the community. • Create news releases, brochures, fact sheets, media alerts and other collateral. • Develop strategic messages that educate the public on project purpose, benefits, and impacts. • Coordinate and participate in virtual and in‑person public meetings and events. • Provide guidance on public inquiries and escalate stakeholder issues. • Execute social‑media outreach plans, researching, writing, and vetting posts for platforms such as X, Facebook, and Instagram. • Research and write content for websites, social media, talking points, presentations, marketing materials and media notifications. • Monitor, archive, and escalate media coverage of project issues. • Respond promptly to media requests. • Analyze the effectiveness of outreach campaigns, including website and social‑media metrics. • Direct support services such as graphic design, website development, video, and photography. • Align communications with client priorities and program messaging alongside project teams. • Attend external meetings to provide public involvement updates and identify issues. • Identify opportunities for community and professional involvement for the project team. • Build strong client relationships and support business development activities. • Conduct local neighborhood outreach, including occasional door‑to‑door visits for water clients.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, urban planning or a related discipline, and possess 3‑5 years of relevant experience. Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical information for public consumption are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience leading social‑media outreach campaigns are also required. Preferred candidates bring public‑involvement experience on infrastructure projects such as transportation, energy, or water, and may be bilingual in Spanish.
