Project Engineer (Primary)

About the Role

Based on customer specifications and inputs from the OU Engineering team, you will prepare protection principle single‑line diagrams, schematics, substation layouts, bills of material, RFQs and evaluate vendor offers. You will coordinate with the Engineering Manager, leads, Tendering team, Product Manager, Project Managers, SCM and civil/steel design functions, providing technical support throughout project and tender activities. You will act as the single point of contact for customers on engineering matters, lead and supervise the engineering project team, manage scope, schedule, approvals and budget, and ensure engineering processes are applied. Regular engineering project reviews will be conducted, risks and opportunities identified, and corrective actions driven, while maintaining compliance with external and internal regulations. • Serve as design authority for low‑ and medium‑complexity engineering assignments. • Prepare protection principle SLDs, schematics, substation layouts, BOMs and RFQs. • Evaluate vendor offers, estimate engineering hours and assess technical risks. • Coordinate with engineering managers, tendering, product, SCM and civil/steel design teams. • Act as single point of contact for customers on engineering issues and lead project meetings. • Supervise engineering team, managing scope, schedule, approvals, budget and resource load. • Conduct engineering project reviews and report progress and cost‑to‑complete. • Identify, track and mitigate project risks while capturing opportunities. • Ensure compliance with QA/QC processes and applicable standards (IEEE, IEC). • Develop and coach project engineers, plan skill development and handle change cases. • Support claim preparation and drive corrective actions for client and supplier issues.

What You Bring

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8‑10 years of experience with primary equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers and HV grid systems. Proficiency in CAD tools, knowledge of international standards (IEEE, IEC), grounding and lightning system design, and experience in substation tendering and project engineering are essential, along with strong written and spoken English. • Possess 8‑10 years of electrical engineering experience with primary equipment and HV grid systems.
