About the Role

The Data Center Operating Engineer role supports critical operations at a major data‑center facility in Aurora, CO. The position ensures reliable, uninterrupted service and peak‑efficiency performance of the building’s HVAC and mechanical infrastructure. You will work alongside internal teams and third‑party vendors to maintain a safe and secure environment. • Oversee maintenance and continuous operation of building systems, focusing on complex HVAC infrastructure (air handlers, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, controls, BMS). • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, coil cleaning, lubrication, calibration and inspections. • Respond to unplanned equipment issues with corrective maintenance, root‑cause diagnosis and timely repairs on HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, plumbing and control systems. • Troubleshoot and resolve system alarms using building automation, technical documentation and industry best practices. • Operate medium‑voltage and low‑voltage switchgear and emergency generators, ensuring safe electrical distribution. • Accurately record operational readings and maintenance activities in the CMMS. • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, hazardous‑material handling and contribute to a clean, secure work environment. • Manage work orders, coordinate vendors and address customer‑facing service tickets professionally.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5 years experience maintaining HVAC and mechanical systems in a data‑center or similarly critical facility. • Proven expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance of chilled water, DX units, CRAC/CRAH equipment, boilers, pumps and controls. • Experience supporting building electrical systems, including UPS, generators and switchgear. • Proficient with MS Office, Google Suite and computerized maintenance management systems. • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear technical documentation. • Preferred: Universal EPA 608 certification and training in NFPA 70E electrical safety standards. • Physical ability to traverse large campuses, lift ≥ 50 lb, climb ladders up to 30 ft and work overhead or on rooftops. • Willingness to work assigned shifts, including holidays, and respond to emergencies as required.

Compensation is estimated between $93,000 and $99,840 annually, with final packages based on qualifications, location and market conditions. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until the role is filled.
