About the Role
This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for operating and maintaining the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS). The GCCS includes extraction wells, interconnecting piping, and gas conveyance equipment such as fans or blowers, with collected gas combusted in a flare. Proper operation is required to meet state and federal environmental regulations. • Operate and maintain the GCCS efficiently to ensure regulatory compliance and optimal performance. • Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic data collection devices to optimize landfill gas extraction. • Collect and manage data from wellfield extraction points and environmental monitoring locations. • Implement the preventative maintenance plan for the GCCS. • Operate and maintain liquid‑management system pumps, troubleshooting and monitoring liquid levels. • Perform wellfield valve and vacuum adjustments, conduct data collection, and interpret results. • Use PVC or HDPE piping and associated equipment to conduct pipe maintenance. • Develop and apply knowledge of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations. • Follow health and safety procedures and be available for on‑call response to GCCS malfunctions.

What You Bring
The position may require travel by air or access to federal property, which mandates a REAL ID or an approved TSA alternative. Candidates must be willing to obtain the required identification if they do not already possess it. • Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I training. • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license (required). • Experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands‑on environments (preferred). • Knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare systems (preferred). • Technical or trade‑school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, instrumentation, or a related field (preferred). • Experience working with PVC or HDPE piping and components (preferred). • Experience using data‑logging systems (preferred). • Mechanical aptitude and experience troubleshooting pumps, motors, or pneumatic equipment (preferred). • Fundamental computer data‑entry and interpretation skills (preferred). • Ability to work independently in field settings with minimal supervision (preferred).
