About the Role
In this role, the specialist will handle media outreach, identify compelling story angles for a variety of reporters, and secure speaking engagements, thought‑leadership opportunities, and special projects. Collaboration with the NE Communications & Content Manager will be essential for awards programs and social‑media initiatives, while coordination with practice‑area leaders will ensure targeted external communications. Core responsibilities include creating and updating practice‑area PR plans, maintaining media lists and editorial calendars, writing press materials such as backgrounders, releases, pitches, and fact sheets, and supporting office, media, and trade events. The specialist will also manage inbound media requests, track and measure PR hits, maintain the speaking‑engagement calendar, and assist with photo shoots and content development for Instagram and firmwide channels. • Identify story angles and pitch to relevant journalists and publications. • Create and update targeted PR plans for projects and practice areas. • Write and edit press materials, including backgrounders, releases, pitches, and fact sheets. • Maintain media lists, editorial calendars, and track PR coverage. • Plan and execute office, media, and trade events, as well as photo shoots. • Manage inbound media requests and coordinate speaker opportunities. • Maintain the New York speaking‑engagement calendar and handle call‑for‑speaker deadlines. • Develop and support social‑media content for the NY Instagram channel and firmwide platforms. • Collaborate on awards submissions, securing client permissions and meeting multiple deadlines. • Utilize Microsoft Office, InDesign, and Cision for efficient communications workflow.

Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills, polished professionalism, and the ability to self‑manage projects and multiple deadlines are required, as is a collaborative mindset that supports senior leadership, clients, and the broader communications team. • Demonstrate a proactive, energetic attitude with strong interpersonal and writing skills. • Leverage 4‑8 years of PR experience, preferably with architecture or design focus.

Benefits
