About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Engineer II to lead the implementation of its Zero Injury Safety program on construction sites. The role requires interacting with staff at all levels, maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality, while ensuring a safe environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors. • Implement and administer safety programs at each worksite for team members. • Assist project management in developing and executing site‑specific safety programs and activities. • Coordinate and conduct safety orientation and training programs at the project level. • Document and track all safety violations, unsafe conditions, and related incidents. • Conduct work‑area safety audits and lead/trailing indicator data collection with trend analysis. • Participate in major incident analysis and assist with corrective actions. • Record, monitor, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics. • Coordinate OSHA reporting and posting requirements.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field, or high school diploma with STS/CHST, OSHA 30‑hour training, and at least seven years construction experience. • Minimum one year of related safety experience; detail‑oriented with strong organization and multitasking abilities. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety‑related software; strong communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills. • Current driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100 % of the time.

Benefits

The position offers a base salary ranging from $81,800 to $110,400, with higher ranges for certain locations such as Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Base pay is set based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, and the role is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
