Job Highlights
About the Role
The operator will work across several extrusion areas, including powder blending and tube extrusion of various diameters (4", 6", 7", ILS). Cross‑training may extend to thermoplastic tube extrusion, cover extrusion, and silicone extrusion. Core tasks include pulling powder from staging, loading the press, configuring the extruder with the correct pin and die, loading billets, setting limit switches and dial speeds, and examining extruded tubes at the start and end of each billet. After extrusion, the tube is placed on a pan or reel, measured, moved to the oven, and processed while applying and removing mica dust as needed. The operator monitors tube dimensions, sets timers, runs ovens, and documents all measurements. Production activities are performed in MFGPro, including raw‑material disbursement, air‑emissions logging, and accurate recording of process travelers and computer transactions. The role requires producing a quality product safely, on time, and at the lowest possible cost while adhering to work orders, specifications, and safety standards. The operator participates in team meetings, problem‑solving sessions, Kaizen events, and maintains a clean, orderly environment using 5S and TPM practices. All plant, safety, and environmental regulations must be followed, and the employee supports lean, safety, quality, and continuous‑improvement initiatives. Health and safety responsibilities include identifying and correcting hazards, assisting in job‑safety analyses, investigating accidents or near‑misses, and actively engaging in safety training. The operator must know and implement regulatory compliance requirements for the designated work area. • Set up and operate multiple extrusion machines • Pull powder from staging area and load into press • Examine extruded tubes and monitor dimensions • Apply and remove mica dust from tubes • Transfer pans to ovens and run batch ovens • Record measurements, chart data, and complete process travelers • Perform production actions in MFGPro (disburse raw materials, log emissions, complete labor, scrap, inventory transactions) • Participate in team meetings, problem‑solving sessions, and Kaizen events • Maintain clean, orderly work environment using 5S and TPM • Follow all plant, safety, environmental, and regulatory rules • Identify and correct hazards and unsafe conditions • Assist in job‑safety analysis and investigate incidents
