About the Role
• Coordinate electrical work projects, overseeing underground cabling, overhead lines, and substation construction. • Supervise collection system installation and grid connection. • Review drawings, constructability, submittals and ensure material and workmanship quality. • Partner with Sr. Superintendent on formwork, equipment sizing, site utilization, and schedule development. • Ensure work teams have resources and supervise quality control for both self‑performed and subcontracted work. • Monitor trade partner plans for safety and enforce the Zero Injury Program. • Act as liaison in project meetings between field engineers, contractors, and craft workers. • Oversee safety documentation, injury and hazard statistics, trend analysis, and OSHA reporting. • Coach, mentor, and evaluate field personnel, forepersons, and assistant superintendents. • Maintain relationships with visitors, customers, architects, unions, and handle open‑shop and union issues.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent I for its Solar Operating Group. The role provides coordination, planning, and supervision of assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities within the electrical discipline. Success requires flexibility, resourcefulness, dedication, high integrity, and confidentiality. The position requires 100% travel across the United States with a rotation schedule of three weeks on site followed by five days off at home. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. • Minimum 10 years with high/medium voltage equipment, cable installation, collection lines, and substation construction. • At least 13 years of supervisory experience. • Proficiency in installation, testing, acceptance, maintenance, and repair of high/medium voltage cables. • Knowledge of cable testing methods such as current injection, Hi‑pot, capacitance discharge, contact resistance, Megger, TTR, Doble. • Working knowledge of electrical drawings, underground duct banks, trenching, manholes, vaults, pad‑mount transformers, SCADA, transmission line construction, and substation commissioning. • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 100% of the time.
