• Install fixtures such as curtains, blinds and door handles. • Perform painting and decorating tasks with attention to presentation. • Fix leaking waste pipes and carry out minor plumbing repairs. • Replace light bulbs and test smoke alarms to maintain safety standards. • Support cleaning and waste collection duties, with training provided. • Collaborate effectively within the Repairs and Maintenance team. • Deliver excellent customer service with a professional attitude. • Make independent decisions and solve problems as needed. • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and cost control. • Participate in the annual Mears Fun Day.

What You Bring
We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Operative for our Repairs and Maintenance team following an internal promotion. The position is hands‑on, combining practical ability, customer service and teamwork to maintain properties to a high standard. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK; Mears does not sponsor visas. The recruitment process includes background, identity, security clearance and BPSS checks, requiring proof of address, references, a valid passport and UK residence for the last five years. To drive a Mears vehicle you must be over 21, hold a licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. • Communicate clearly with colleagues and residents.

Annual salary up to £28,450.25.
