About the Role

• Ensure all promised deadlines are met, flag slipping deadlines early, and communicate new dates to the Superintendent and Project Manager. • Lead the finish crew with a positive, collaborative attitude and use quarterly Field Check‑Ins for feedback, mentoring, and career development. • Conduct site walk‑throughs to help subcontractors prepare proposals and site‑specific safety plans. • Enforce workplace rules, site standards, and safety guidelines; apply disciplinary actions when necessary. • Collaborate with the Project Team to create a finish scope estimate and co‑manage labor, material, and subcontractor costs. • Manage building layout and dimensional control using builder’s levels, rotary lasers, total stations, and similar tools. • Work with the Superintendent to set and maintain manpower projections, reporting resource changes promptly via Field Labor Projections. • Plan, communicate, and maintain daily and weekly work scopes and finish expectations using the 3‑week look‑ahead and other tools. • Provide daily job‑log information to the Superintendent verbally, in writing, or through Fieldwire or other approved platforms. • Ensure all employees have required tools and equipment per Company Tool Policy and project specifications. • Supply accurate field‑generated information—such as as‑built drawings, photos, and measurements—in Fieldwire, Sharefile, and other official platforms. • Maintain adherence to quality standards and keep finish work protection in place. • Participate in Employee Development Meetings and written Field Check‑ins as needed and at project completion. • Maintain positive neighbor relations alongside the Superintendent. • Maintain a positive and solution‑oriented attitude. • Motivate others to perform at their highest level. • Complete required safety training appropriate to the position and location. • Advocate for safety, reinforcing awareness to reduce injury risk. • Follow instructions, take notes, and perform designated work reliably. • Act as an active listener, seek help when needed, and suggest solutions. • Continuously learn and develop new skills and capabilities. • Perform precision trim work with paint‑grade or stain‑grade material, ensuring no gaps. • Install crown molding at various wall angles using coped or mitered joinery. • Fabricate and install paneling. • Calculate angles and pitches for roofs, stairs, and railings using solid math skills. • Hang doors efficiently with dead‑even reveals on three sides. • Customize doors to correct size and configuration, including multi‑piece moving wall doors. • Hang blank doors from scratch. • Perform glue‑up joinery for shelving, tables, or bench tops. • Sharpen chisels and plane blades, keeping edge tools sharp. • Install cabinets efficiently with tight scribed joints. • Participate in a 401(k) retirement plan with employer profit‑sharing contributions. • Explore opportunities to work on Dowbuilt projects in other regions if desired.

What You Bring

We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent to act as an on‑site construction manager who coordinates and oversees detailed scopes of work and safety for field crews and subcontractors. The role demands advanced interior and exterior carpentry skills, the ability to execute work within very tight tolerances, and a talent for providing creative constructability solutions to diverse design challenges. Success in this position relies on deep knowledge of construction best practices and effective communication with crews, clients, vendors, sub‑trades, designers, engineers, consultants, and architects. • Possess 15+ years of experience as a carpenter/finish carpenter, preferably in residential construction. • Communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of people. • Proficient with MS Office, Bluebeam, FieldWire, Procore, and Smartsheet. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or have equivalent professional experience. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. • Exhibit good manners and respect for the team, subcontractors, and clients. • Consistently deliver high accuracy and efficiency. • Possess technical knowledge of building methods and construction practice. • Manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations. • Expertise in base coping. • Dimension lumber to exact sizes, including tapered trim pieces. • Familiar with stair work, handrails, and skirt boards. • Mortise and install door hardware proficiently.
