About the Role

• Produce and present cost estimates and plans at key design milestones. • Review designs and collaborate with GC/CM on progressive estimates and budget alignment. • Lead value engineering, optioneering, and cost‑impact assessments. • Validate and reconcile contractor cost data; review subcontractor pricing and negotiate commercially. • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout construction. • Perform cost checks, valuations, forecasting and produce monthly cost reports. • Track commitments, manage contingencies and control changes. • Consolidate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors and A/E quantities. • Prepare executive‑level commentary on contractor submissions and cost updates. • Resolve cost‑schedule issues to support timely delivery. • Conduct cost audits, validation and post‑contract variance reviews. • Negotiate final accounts and develop cost benchmarks for future phases. • Liaise with Bay Area client stakeholders supporting large‑scale data centre builds. • Mentor team members and uphold best‑practice and compliance standards. • Ensure adherence to SOX controls where applicable. • Leadership on medium to large complex, mission‑critical projects such as data centres or heavy MEP programmes.

What You Bring

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to serve as the day‑to‑day client interface on a large, multi‑site, mission‑critical, rapidly scaling data centre programme. The role leads value‑driven cost management across the full project lifecycle, partnering with real‑estate, design, engineering and construction stakeholders to deliver high‑density, schedule‑driven campuses at scale. It requires excellent communication, proven client‑facing leadership and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment. • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field. • 5‑7+ years of cost management experience in construction, preferably consultancy. • Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, value engineering and cost/risk management for fast‑track delivery. • Proficiency in cost planning, estimating, change management and commercial negotiations throughout the project lifecycle. • Excellent client‑facing communication; ability to convey cost drivers and risks to executive audiences. • RICS accreditation (or working toward it) preferred. • Bay Area market experience a plus.
