About the Role
Key duties include identifying required tools and safety precautions, detecting machine issues, and assisting with disassembly, repair, or replacement of equipment parts. The helper will also perform preventive maintenance, clean and lubricate machinery, conduct basic diagnostic tests, and use precision measuring instruments. Additional tasks involve operating lathes, grinders, and files, as well as unloading, inspecting, and positioning equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and rigging devices, all while following supervisor directions. • Identify required tools and safety precautions • Detect and report mechanical problems • Assist with disassembling, repairing, or replacing equipment parts • Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, and pneumatic tools • Conduct basic diagnostic tests and performance checks • Use precision measuring instruments (rulers, calipers, micrometers) • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files • Unload, inspect, and position equipment with cranes, hoists, and dollies • Utilize rigging and hoisting devices to move materials • Follow supervisor directions and complete assigned duties

What You Bring
The Industrial Helper role requires 1‑12 months of experience in industrial construction, the ability to follow instructions, reliable transportation, and availability to work up to seven days as needed. Candidates must meet all physical demands, possess the necessary tools, and adhere to safety regulations. Required qualifications emphasize strong problem‑solving abilities, manual dexterity, good reading comprehension, and effective communication skills. The role demands teamwork, the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, and a commitment to Zachry’s values and safety rules. Preferred candidates may be former Zachry employees, have prior industrial construction experience, or possess formal technical education. The position involves extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, and work at heights or on scaffolding with appropriate fall protection. Employees must operate in all weather conditions while wearing required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirators, hi‑vis vests, gloves, and steel‑toed boots.
