About the Role
The Surveyor role plans, organizes, and directs one or more survey parties to capture precise location, elevation, and contour data for construction, mapping, land division, and other purposes. Responsibilities include researching prior survey records, establishing control points, recording measurements, and ensuring data accuracy in the field. The position is based on‑site in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, within AECOM’s DCS business group and the Buildings & Places line. The Surveyor works under the guidance of the Resident Engineer, coordinates with contractors, and collaborates with engineering, architectural, and client teams to deliver compliant survey deliverables. • Read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and safety measures. • Perform survey work under the direction of the Resident Engineer. • Establish primary horizontal and vertical control points using photogrammetry and GPS equipment. • Record measurements, rod readings, and calculations accurately in field books. • Verify survey data accuracy and complete traverse closures and bench circuits. • Coordinate work priorities and schedules with the contractor’s surveyor. • Report discrepancies or technical problems to the team leader. • Conduct joint measurements for completed work and ensure conformance to project plans. • Perform regular checks of the contractor’s setting out for proper execution. • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment routinely. • Prepare sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys. • Calculate terrain characteristics such as heights, depths, and property lines. • Apply safety, quality controls, and health‑monitoring procedures on site.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related discipline and have at least six years of surveying experience. Required skills include proficiency with CAD and survey software, total stations, data collectors, GPS equipment, strong analytical abilities, and effective oral and written communication. Physical stamina for field work and a commitment to safe practices are also essential. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or related field. • Minimum six years of professional surveying experience. • Proficiency with CAD, survey software, total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment. • Strong analytical abilities and ability to work independently. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to perform physically demanding field work.
