About the Role
The Project Engineer is responsible for project engineering tasks such as daily reports, quantity tracking, scheduling, budget updates, correspondence logs, and RFIs. The role is primarily field‑based, requiring about 75 % travel or temporary relocation, with a vehicle allowance, fuel card, and per‑diem for meals and lodging. • Interpret design drawings for superintendents and foremen in the field. • Coordinate with project manager and site supervision to resolve drawing issues and conflicts. • Perform drafting, digitizing, mapping, and quantity takeoffs to support construction and change orders. • Provide survey control lines and elevations for accurate grading and material installation. • Ensure current drawings are issued to appropriate parties and maintain the drawing log. • Administer FTP site for drawing transfer and maintenance across owner, subcontractors, and prime contractor. • Track production across all work phases and generate weekly production reports. • Prepare and distribute status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material requirement calculations. • Verify completed work complies with codes, drawings, and specifications. • Lead project meetings in the project manager’s absence and prepare meeting documentation. • Assist with budgeting, cost coding, invoice review, monthly billing, and job set‑up forms. • Schedule equipment and materials, create time‑and‑material timesheets, and obtain client approval. • Collaborate on cost transfer requests, cost‑to‑complete projections, and change‑order documentation. • Work with estimating to draft hard‑dollar estimates for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

MasTec is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and prohibits unlawful discrimination and harassment. • Coal ash remediation / CCR experience preferred. • Experience with job costing, scheduling, and contract change estimation (preferred). • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar. • Familiarity with construction estimating and scheduling software (preferred). • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple information streams and priorities. • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. • Minimum one year of project engineering experience in construction (or relevant co‑op experience).
