About the Role
ISO New England is the independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in the region and leading New England’s transition to clean energy. The primary role provides technical leadership, management oversight, and stakeholder support for planning a reliable bulk electric power system across New England and the Northeastern United States, overseeing the reliability assessment process under the ISO‑NE Tariff. • Lead and monitor Transmission Planning engineers’ activities and performance. • Ensure compliance with NERC, NPCC, and ISO planning standards. • Administer and coordinate regional reliability studies, including Needs Assessments and Solutions Studies. • Review and align New England transmission owners’ local system plans with ISO‑NE regional planning. • Evaluate transmission owners’ proposals and associated studies. • Develop, test, and maintain automation tools for System Planning studies. • Prepare and present materials for the Planning Advisory Committee and the annual Regional System Plan. • Conduct analyses to resolve NEPOOL committee and regional transmission issues. • Design and update business processes and planning procedures. • Support the preparation and control of the Transmission Planning budget.

What You Bring
This U.S.–based role may require relocation for candidates residing outside the United States. ISO New England is an equal‑opportunity employer and maintains a drug‑free workplace with pre‑employment substance‑abuse testing. • Bachelor’s degree in Electric Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering. • In‑depth knowledge of power system network analysis, transmission planning, and reliability standards. • Ten to fifteen years of experience in electric utility system or operations planning. • Familiarity with ISO‑NE/NEPOOL organization and processes. • Desirable: Master’s degree in Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an MBA. • Desirable: Supervisory experience in the power systems field. • Desirable: Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license.
