About the Role
• Prepare and author traffic noise reports with strong analytical and writing skills. • Perform acoustical assignments using both standard and non‑standard techniques. • Complete projects with clear objectives, working independently or supporting senior staff. • Serve as technical specialist, task lead, or project manager as required. • Direct clerical, technical, and junior professional personnel. • Conduct transportation, environmental noise, and vibration analyses. • Prepare and review NEPA technical studies and support public outreach. • Utilize GIS and the FHWA Traffic Noise Model (TNM) for nationwide noise analyses. • Travel to project locations, including occasional overnight stays.

What You Bring
HDR is seeking a Traffic Noise Specialist 2 to support transportation, environmental, and architectural acoustics projects across the United States. Our Acoustics Practice provides award‑winning expertise in traffic noise, aviation, architectural acoustics, environmental acoustics, rail noise, and vibration, offering services in modeling, measurements, consulting, and expert witness work. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in acoustics, math, physics, engineering or a related field. • Possess at least five years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office, GIS, and state‑of‑the‑art noise measurement software. • Familiar with ISO and U.S. acoustical standards and FHWA/FTA/FRA guidance documents. • Preferred: PE or INCE Board certification and a Master’s degree in a related field. • Preferred: Active participation in professional organizations and flexibility for local candidates.
