About the Role

The Lead Drainage Engineer position in Doha, Qatar, places you at the forefront of the drainage discipline on major infrastructure and development projects. You will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater management systems, serve as the primary point of contact for the discipline, and coordinate hydraulic and hydrological modelling, client liaison, and bid preparation. • Lead planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater systems for infrastructure projects. • Serve as primary contact for the drainage discipline and deputize for the design manager as needed. • Manage hydraulic and hydrological modelling, flood risk assessments, and drainage impact studies. • Provide technical leadership, ensure compliance with standards, and review/approve calculations and drawings. • Develop water‑sensitive urban design (WSUD) solutions and coordinate with CAD/BIM teams. • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to secure approvals and resolve issues. • Prepare technical bid responses and estimate level‑of‑effort for drainage work. • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources while mentoring and developing team members.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a relevant engineering degree and bring extensive water‑engineering experience, including stormwater drainage design. A Chartered Engineer status or progression toward it is required, and experience in Qatar or the Middle East is advantageous. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Hydraulic, Hydrology, or Water Engineering; Master’s preferred. • Minimum 20 years of water‑engineering experience, including stormwater drainage design. • Proficient with modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, SWMM, StormCAD, HEC‑RAS/HMS. • Advanced GIS and CAD skills (ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation). • Chartered Engineer (CEng) qualification or well‑progressed toward it; MME registration within six months. • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and multi‑disciplinary teamwork abilities. • Experience in Qatar or the broader Middle East is a plus.
