About the Role

The Engineering and Sustainability Director leads engineering and sustainability service delivery for JLL’s Facility Management and Project Management streams. This role works closely with GMP and non‑GMP teams to ensure seamless integration, meet client expectations, and exceed key performance indicators across the portfolio. Daily responsibilities include overseeing critical systems such as clean rooms, HVAC, utilities, and specialized pharmaceutical equipment, while ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, and other regulations. The director also develops and executes sustainability programs, tracks metrics, provides operational leadership, and drives standardization through the JLL/Life Sciences platform. A strong safety‑first culture is maintained through incident analysis, root‑cause investigations, and implementation of corrective actions. • Lead engineering and sustainability service delivery for facility and project management streams • Ensure GMP and non‑GMP facilities meet FDA and regulatory standards • Oversee maintenance of clean rooms, HVAC, utilities, and pharmaceutical equipment • Develop, implement, and report on portfolio‑wide sustainability programs • Drive standardization and best practices via the JLL/Life Sciences platform • Provide technical direction, cross‑training, and succession planning for the team • Act as trusted advisor to clients, delivering timely solutions and innovation • Analyze failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions • Maintain a safety‑first culture and enforce EHS and quality compliance • Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and subcontractor performance

What You Bring

Required qualifications comprise at least ten years of facilities management, maintenance, engineering, or operations leadership in GxP‑regulated environments, along with a bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering. Candidates must have extensive experience in the bio‑pharma sector, proven budget management, vendor oversight, and the ability to inspire safety and quality compliance. Preferred experience includes over ten years in commercial real estate, facility management, or sustainability consulting, as well as a track record of client‑facing success and business development. The position is on‑site in several U.S. locations, does not offer visa sponsorship, and offers an estimated compensation range of $174,000 to $214,000 per year. • Minimum 10 years leadership in facilities/engineering within GxP environments • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or environmental engineering preferred • 7‑10 years experience in the bio‑pharma industry • Executive presence, strategic mindset, and inclusive leadership skills • On‑site role in Apex NC, Cambridge MA, Columbus OH, Louisville KY, or Thousand Oaks CA
