About the Role

The specialist will support the commissioning process for mission‑critical projects with limited supervision, reviewing construction documents, interpreting design intent, developing pre‑functional checklists and performance testing scripts, and overseeing contractor testing of facility systems. The role requires sound judgment, making recommendations, maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, and team members, and fostering relationships that build goodwill. • Review construction documents and interpret design intent for engineered systems. • Develop pre‑functional checklists and functional performance testing scripts. • Oversee contractor testing of facility systems and ensure compliance. • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and project team members. • Build and maintain relationships that generate goodwill with clients and partners. • Support creation of commissioning plans, procedures, checklists, test scripts, and schedules for Level 1‑5 activities. • Use cloud‑based construction and commissioning management platforms. • Apply mechanical, plumbing, and electrical system knowledge to solve problems.

What You Bring

NV5 is seeking a Commissioning Project Specialist to join its Americas Mission Critical team, providing national service to clients as needed. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, experienced in construction, mechanical/electrical systems, and facility operations, and will work on mission‑critical markets. Candidates must have at least three years of progressive construction experience, including two years in mission‑critical facilities, and hold an associate degree in a STEM field. Required skills include strong written and verbal communication, familiarity with cloud‑based construction and commissioning platforms, teamwork, creative problem‑solving, and knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems, as well as willingness to travel 75% of the time. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree, a contractor’s license, commissioning certification, and test‑and‑balance certification. • Possess 3+ years progressive construction experience, including 2 years in mission‑critical facilities. • Hold an associate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. • Travel at least 75% nationally for project assignments. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, contractor license, commissioning certification, test‑and‑balance certification.
