About the Role
Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data from physical work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, subsurface utility information, maps, and geotechnical sources to aid project development and construction. They will also perform basic professional engineering work, inspecting proposed and existing site conditions to ensure conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Additional duties include carrying out routine engineering functions, providing entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements, safety, and functionality, and verifying site characteristics. The role requires generating complete and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs, while adhering to safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures. • Assist in data collection and analysis from site surveys, GIS, blueprints, and geotechnical sources. • Support basic civil engineering design and construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, and water infrastructure. • Perform research and inspections to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and permits. • Provide entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements, safety, and functionality. • Generate accurate project documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs. • Follow safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures on all assignments. • Complete required training and uphold ethical standards per WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
The engineer must complete assigned training, make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources, and follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. They will also perform other responsibilities as required by business needs. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, 0–1 years of post‑graduation experience, strong research and analytical skills, familiarity with design/build processes and civil construction codes, and effective communication with technical and non‑technical audiences. Candidates should demonstrate self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking abilities, basic technical writing proficiency, and a proven commitment to workplace safety and WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies. Flexibility for project‑specific schedules and occasional travel is also required. Preferred qualifications are Engineer‑in‑Training certification, experience with design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and related tools, prior internships in the engineering field, and active participation in professional organizations.
