About the Role

The Electrical Testing and Commissioning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the testing and commissioning of substation electrical equipment, ensuring that all activities align with contractual scopes, specifications, and industry standards. The role requires coordination with customers for outage planning, permit acquisition, and safety compliance, as well as thorough documentation of test results and certifications for energization. Progress reports are provided to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. • Perform testing of protection relays and substation HV/LV equipment. • Test vacuum reclosers, pad‑mounted step‑up transformers, instrument transformers (PT/CT), surge arresters, switchboards, grounding systems, and relay protection systems. • Ensure all field testing on substation equipment is accurate and safe. • Develop and execute substation equipment test procedures. • Provide technical instruction, mentoring, and guidance to field testing technicians. • Develop testing and commissioning departmental and project requirements. • Ensure compliance with testing QA/QC processes. • Meet and liaise regularly with clients and personnel, acting independently on technical matters. • Consult with clients on testing and commissioning projects. • Maintain excellent relationships with clients and field personnel. • Maintain advanced knowledge of electrical industry standards.

What You Bring

Candidates should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and have at least five years of experience in testing, design, or construction of electrical power facilities. Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, industry standards, and testing equipment is essential, alongside strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills. • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power & Controls, or equivalent. • Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in testing, design, or construction of similar facilities; ZIV protection relay experience is a plus. • Possess expert understanding of electrical systems and ability to read single‑line, DC schematics, and wiring diagrams. • Demonstrate strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills. • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, safety awareness, analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting abilities. • Be proficient with testing equipment such as CMC256, CMC100, and other test instruments.
