About the Role

The Landfill Gas Technician reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for operating and maintaining the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS). The GCCS includes extraction wells, piping, and gas conveyance equipment such as fans or blowers, and routes collected landfill gas to a flare for combustion. Proper operation ensures compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. The technician calibrates, operates, and maintains electronic data collection devices to optimize gas collection, and manages data entry from extraction and monitoring locations. They implement the preventative maintenance plan, operate liquid‑management pumps, and perform well‑field valve and vacuum adjustments while interpreting the resulting data. Maintenance of PVC or HDPE piping and associated equipment is performed as needed, and the technician completes the WM Landfill Gas Technician I training. A basic understanding of environmental regulations related to GCCS operations is developed, and all health and safety procedures are strictly followed. The role requires on‑call availability for any GCCS malfunction. The position involves work both inside the gas plant and outdoors in inclement weather, heat, and humidity. What You Bring

Applicants must hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Preferred experience includes environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical or mechanical hands‑on work, familiarity with gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, flare systems, and a technical background in environmental science or mechanical instrumentation. Experience with PVC/HDPE piping, data‑logging systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and independent field work is also valued. The position may require air travel or access to federal property, so candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative, or be willing to obtain one. • Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I certification and adhere to safety protocols. • Hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. • Demonstrated experience with gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare equipment. • Proficiency with data‑logging, mechanical troubleshooting, and PVC/HDPE piping. • Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision.
