About the Role

The Director will lead positioning activities, manage strategic planning, oversee marketing material creation, coordinate pre‑qualification, gather customer feedback, and manage interfaces between business development, pre‑construction, and marketing. Mortenson is seeking an experienced Director of Business Development who can engage with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The role requires flexibility, resourcefulness, proactivity, efficiency, professionalism, and confidentiality, with strong written and verbal communication and attention to detail. The Director will partner with business‑unit market leaders to develop and support positioning strategies for existing and potential customers and to lead teams. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, and have at least ten years of industry‑related business development experience. Required skills include strong management, proven customer‑relationship building, successful marketing strategy execution, detail orientation, basic knowledge of construction law, intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and web applications, a positive professional attitude, strong customer service, ability to interpret Mortenson policies, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time. • Become familiar with customer project estimates to facilitate discussions • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field • Minimum of 10 years of industry‑related business development experience • Strong management and proven customer‑relationship building skills • Successful execution of marketing strategies • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple project tasks • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant web applications • Positive professional attitude and strong customer service orientation • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 30%
