About the Role
As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities and quality of life. The Senior Rail Transit Project Manager will direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee large and technically complex projects, and manage client relations, staffing, budgets, and quality assurance. This role also includes mentoring staff and handling additional duties as required. • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, from development and initiation to close‑out. • Manage large, complex multidiscipline projects or medium‑sized projects with high technical complexity and large staff. • Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deliverables are produced and coordinated. • Establish and maintain client relationships; participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. • Conduct work sessions with staff and stakeholders to develop deliverables. • Coordinate staffing and workload across the project lifecycle to meet schedule requirements. • Track financial aspects, adjusting effort to stay within budget and schedule parameters. • Collaborate with accounting, operations, and business leadership for periodic project reviews. • Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures. • Supervise large project teams and mentor less‑experienced project managers.

What You Bring
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, at least ten years of related experience, and a minimum of five years in project management. A professional engineering license for the job location, proficiency with MS Office and MS Project, and demonstrated leadership and business development skills are also expected. Commitment to the employee‑owned culture is essential. • Master's degree. • PMP certification. • Hawaii‑registered PE for the last 5 years. • 20 years of related experience. • 5 years of registered professional civil engineering experience. • Prior experience with FTA‑funded projects. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • 10 years of related experience. • Minimum 5 years of project management experience. • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location. • Proficiency with MS Office and MS Project (Access experience a plus). • Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills.
