About the Role
An Industrial Machinist installs, assembles, dismantles, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs machinery, working on small engines, motors, pumps, and other mechanical equipment. The role involves working with high‑complexity machines such as ball mills, turbines, conveyors, generators, hydraulic systems, and compressors. Responsibilities include planning, inspecting, and documenting work scope; replacing gaskets and defective parts; dismantling and assembling equipment; operating lathes, grinders, and files; fabricating parts; rigging using cranes and hoists; and performing preventative maintenance while following supervisor direction. • Rebuild agitators and pumps. • Install, assemble, dismantle, and repair industrial machinery. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. • Use hand and power tools for maintenance and fabrication. • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files to turn parts to specifications. • Perform rigging and hoisting with cranes, hoists, and chain falls. • Conduct preventative maintenance, including lubrication and part replacement. • Lead and instruct team members on work procedures. • Ensure compliance with safety rules, PPE usage, and Zachry values. • Maintain reliable transportation and availability to work seven days as needed. • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lb; work outdoors up to 12 hours per shift.

What You Bring
Candidates must have experience rebuilding agitators and pumps, general industrial machinery installation and maintenance, and the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. They should be proficient with hand and power tools, have 4‑5 years of mechanical experience, reliable transportation, and be able to work seven days as needed. Required knowledge and skills include a proven industrial construction/maintenance background, expertise with hand and power tools, understanding of load properties for cables and chains, strong organization, problem‑solving, manual dexterity, math and geometry concepts, leadership ability, good communication, and a commitment to safety and Zachry values. Preferred qualifications are NCCER Journeyman Industrial Millwright certification, prior experience as a Zachry employee or ROF‑ed status, basic computer proficiency, and formal technical education. Physical demands include extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lb; occasional work at heights, ladders, and platforms; use of vision for detailed tasks; ability to work outdoors in extreme weather for up to 12 hours a day; and mandatory use of personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, vests, gloves, and steel‑toe boots. • Possess NCCER Journeyman Millwright certification (preferred).
