About the Role
• Lead overall project design phase, ensuring customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design, and planning. • Align scope, budget, and schedule; drive integrated team experience and construction readiness. • Manage project budget, scope expectations, and budget trending logs. • Create and supervise project schedules, holding team members accountable for milestones. • Obtain regulatory approvals and permits; ensure design documents align with execution plan. • Prepare bid packages and contract manuals; resolve technical design and specification issues. • Develop project margin plan and act as primary contact with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners. • Monitor success factors for customers, design partners, and Mortenson team; foster communication and collaboration. • Mentor and guide design phase team members, providing coaching, feedback, and performance management.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Design Phase Manager who can interact with staff at all levels, remain flexible in a changing environment, and anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities. The role requires proactive, efficient, and professional communication to translate the owner’s vision into design solutions and construction parameters, overseeing one or two projects simultaneously. • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, construction management, estimating, or related field. • Minimum of eight years of relevant experience. • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving and leadership abilities. • Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple project tasks. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project/web applications at an intermediate level. • Ability to travel up to 100 % and adhere to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action policies.

Benefits
Base compensation ranges from $132,100 to $198,200, with location‑based adjustments, and includes eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan. The position may require up to 100 % travel, does not offer visa sponsorship, and mandates legal authorization to work in the U.S. Job postings typically remain open for a minimum of five days, averaging forty‑four days.
