About the Role
The Critical Facilities Engineer operates, manages, maintains, and repairs key building systems such as HVAC, power, plumbing, fire control, and roofing. The role works with limited supervision, partnering with senior staff and service providers to ensure reliable facility performance. In this position you will conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor building systems, support vendor activities, maintain accurate site documentation, respond to incidents, and contribute to infrastructure projects, all while adhering to established procedures. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, power, plumbing, fire suppression, and roofing systems. • Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolve alarm events according to SOPs. • Approve and track vendor maintenance work, ensuring compliance with Equinix procedures. • Update technical files, permits, and site logs to keep documentation current. • Respond to on‑site incidents, identify single points of failure, and recommend mitigations. • Execute routine work orders, circuit installations, and minor mechanical/electrical adjustments. • Collaborate with team members, mentor junior staff, and assist with infrastructure projects.

What You Bring
Qualified candidates have a high school diploma (or equivalent) plus at least three years of experience in HVAC and facilities maintenance, with a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. They must be comfortable following SOPs, working independently, and collaborating with vendors and team members; certifications such as OSHA, NFPA, EPA 608, LEED, or SFP are preferred. • Required: High school diploma or equivalent; 3+ years HVAC experience; 3+ years facilities maintenance experience. • Required: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems; ability to follow SOPs and work independently. • Preferred: Certifications such as OSHA, NFPA, EPA 608, LEED, or SFP.
