About the Role

The IT Infrastructure Energy Specialist role is a new, pioneering position that supports customers in deploying and managing IT infrastructure in an energy‑efficient and sustainable manner within Equinix’s latest Singapore facility. As a subject‑matter expert, the specialist defines, builds, and governs policies, standards, and frameworks to ensure compliant, energy‑efficient hardware installations, develops programs to promote efficient usage, and trains customers on proper deployment. Key responsibilities include developing equipment acceptance policies, creating decision frameworks and compliance checklists, and interpreting standards such as ENERGY STAR and SS 715/697. The specialist also designs Energy Efficiency Discount Programs, advises customer engineering teams on sustainable hardware strategies, provides pre‑sales guidance, and delivers training to internal groups while aligning equipment acceptance with site capabilities and environmental goals. The specialist evaluates customer equipment specifications for compliance, establishes guidelines for permitted configurations, and acts as Equinix’s SME on equipment energy performance, leading escalations and advising internal teams. They communicate project updates using consistent tools, partner with logistics and operations on inbound validation workflows, maintain the governance framework, and monitor regulatory changes to recommend improvements. • Develop and own IT Equipment Acceptance Policies for customer‑deployed hardware. • Create decision frameworks, compliance checklists, and validation methodologies for equipment. • Define power consumption and sustainability performance thresholds based on ENERGY STAR and related standards. • Design and manage Energy Efficiency Discount Programs to encourage sustainable hardware adoption. • Advise customer engineering teams on energy‑efficient deployment strategies. • Provide pre‑sales enablement and guidance on allowable equipment to Sales Engineering. • Deliver training, workshops, and best‑practice materials to internal teams. • Collaborate with Sustainability, Facilities, and Network Engineering to align equipment acceptance with site capabilities. • Evaluate customer equipment specifications for compliance with site requirements. • Establish guidelines for permitted versus non‑permitted configurations. • Serve as the subject‑matter expert on equipment energy performance and lead escalations. • Communicate project and program updates using consistent tools and templates. • Partner with Logistics and Operations to validate inbound equipment and refine governance frameworks. • Monitor regulatory changes and emerging technologies to improve processes and tooling.

What You Bring

Qualified candidates have at least eight years of experience in compliance or IT infrastructure engineering/operations, strong knowledge of server platforms, virtualization, and hypervisor technologies, and deep understanding of global energy‑efficiency standards. Excellent documentation skills and the ability to lead customer‑facing discussions are essential, while experience with benchmarking tools, sustainability engineering, and familiarity with regulatory bodies are preferred. • Minimum 8 years experience in compliance or IT infrastructure engineering/operations. • Strong knowledge of server platforms, virtualization, and hypervisor technologies. • Deep understanding of global energy‑efficiency standards (Energy Star, EPEAT, ISO, etc.). • Proven ability to lead customer‑facing discussions and produce enterprise‑grade documentation. • Preferred: experience with efficiency benchmarking tools (e.g., SPEC power) and sustainability engineering background.
