About the Role

The Leadman provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to craft workers on a work crew, assisting the Foreman while functioning as a journeyman. In this role the Leadman builds, positions, and dismantles wooden structures such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, following sketches, blueprints, or company standards. • Examine, select, and gather materials and tools. • Review blueprints and specifications to determine structure dimensions. • Inspect base surfaces for obstructions. • Load, transport, and unload materials. • Measure and mark boards, timbers, or plywood for cutting. • Use carpentry hand and power tools (hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, wrenches, saws, drills, pry bars). • Assemble scaffolds with handrails, mid‑rails, braces, planks, toe boards, and locking pins per specifications. • Brace forms with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for concrete work. • Secure scaffolding to permanent structures by tying. • Erect scaffolding and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. • Set and brace anchor bolts. • Rig materials as needed. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Plan work and select appropriate tools. • Compare and discern differences in size, shape, and form.

What You Bring

Candidates typically need a high‑school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience; they work under immediate supervision, following established guidelines and exercising limited independent judgment. The position demands significant physical effort, including prolonged standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling tools, with many activities performed constantly. • Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes. • Apply basic mathematics and solve problems.
