About the Role

The Landscape Architecture Project Manager brings outdoor spaces to life by collaborating with team members to develop concept designs, technical construction documentation, and administer landscape architecture projects such as parks, streetscapes, public spaces, industrial sites, and master plans. The manager leads client engagement through design meetings, visioning sessions, charrettes, and presentations, while directing staff, delegating tasks, and ensuring clear communication to keep projects on schedule and within budget. They also sign and seal construction plans, manage multiple projects concurrently, and act as the primary contact for clients, public agencies, and industry events. In addition to design leadership, the role oversees financial aspects such as profit and loss, revenue forecasting, billing, and project setup in Unanet, and contributes to business development by preparing proposals, qualifications, and participating in client outreach. • Lead the client through the entire design process and ensure follow-through until completion. • Actively listen to the client to understand their goals and clearly convey them to the design team. • Lead, delegate, and engage with the design team to meet client goals on time, on budget, and with high accuracy. • Provide guidance to clients and staff regarding landscape project requirements. • Retain and ensure satisfaction of new and existing clients. • Plan projects using drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, surveys, maps, grading plans, and topographical data. • Review projects for compliance with state and local regulatory requirements. • Collaborate with architects, contractors, subconsultants, and engineers to ensure proper project progress. • Monitor project progress and ensure design specifications and standards are met. • Complete projects independently with minimal oversight. • Perform construction administration duties, including addressing contractor questions, leading pre‑construction meetings, reviewing substitution requests and shop drawings, site walkthroughs, and punch‑list development. • Assign projects and oversee accuracy, timeliness, and proper time entry. • Develop, mentor, train, evaluate, coach, discipline, and engage assigned staff. • Teach and explain company methodologies to others. • Utilize and update company accounting software and project metric applications. • Develop business by selling the company's services to new and existing clients. • Provide scope and fee proposals for landscape architectural and engineering opportunities. • Coordinate qualifications‑based landscape architecture proposals. • Write project approach narratives and detailed scopes for landscape architecture proposals. • Prepare and lead interviews to acquire new business. • Ensure projects are communicated to the Project Coordinator and set up correctly in Unanet throughout all phases. • Review contract language. • Ensure financial success of projects. • Complete billing reports in a timely manner. • Complete SMRF documentation. • Maintain touch‑base activities with previous and current clients. • Participate in meetings, association memberships, and events to build networking contacts. • Develop and lead project or industry‑related speaking presentations. • Perform daily timekeeping in Unanet for appropriate project billing. • Motivate and lead team members to complete projects on time, on budget, and accurately. • Identify and solve complex problems. • Design and solve problems on the fly with clients and team members. • Balance creativity with analytical thinking. • Manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines. • Manage, mentor, delegate, guide, and engage staff on landscape architecture projects. • Travel to various project sites as needed. • Deliver An Exceptional Client Experience.

What You Bring

The position requires regular collaboration with architects, contractors, subconsultants, and engineers, as well as compliance with state and local regulations, and the ability to solve design challenges on the fly. • Demonstrate advanced understanding of design tools and landscape architecture practices. • Storyboard construction documents and presentations. • Eight or more years of professional landscape architecture experience with client‑facing responsibilities (preferred). • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or related field from an accredited program. • Licensed Landscape Architect (preferred). • Advanced understanding of construction documentation, administration, and specification writing. • Advanced understanding of landscape architecture principles, practices, and tools. • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. • Possess above‑average design ability. • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. • Extremely detail‑oriented and accurate. • Intermediate understanding of specifications and construction administration. • Public speaking ability. • Access and navigate job sites and construction areas. • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. • Detail‑Oriented: thrive on getting the little things right and delivering high‑quality work every time. • Problem Solver: think on your feet and devise innovative solutions. • Experience‑based PTO and paid volunteer hours. • Kleingers Academy and development training.
