About the Role
The Transportation Engineer/Planner will use Visum, TransCAD, QGIS, R, Python and Generative AI tools to create and update model data and code. Responsibilities include assembling data for model validation, producing long‑range travel forecasts, documenting results, and developing GIS databases and scripts with SQL, Python or R. Analytical research and statistical analysis will be applied to address model shortcomings and recommend improved approaches. • Apply and enhance statewide tour‑based and regional travel demand models using Visum, TransCAD, QGIS, R, and Python. • Validate models, generate long‑range travel forecasts, and document results for toll‑road project evaluations. • Develop and maintain GIS databases and automation scripts (SQL, Python, R) for data processing and integration. • Conduct research and statistical analysis to identify model shortcomings and recommend improvements. • Prepare technical reports and present modeling outcomes to clients, conferences, and stakeholder groups.

What You Bring
AECOM is seeking a talented Transportation Engineer or Planner to support our contract with Florida's Turnpike Enterprise in Ocoee, Florida. The role involves applying the newly developed statewide tour‑based model and regional travel demand models, handling model enhancements, data updates, code maintenance, and project application requests for innovative toll‑road evaluations. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field, and at least four years of relevant experience. Candidates must understand disaggregate choice demand modeling, be proficient in programming (Python, R, C++ preferred), and have experience with travel‑demand software such as Cube, TransCAD, or Visum. Knowledge of GIS, database analysis, and advanced planning and data‑science techniques is required, with cloud and version‑control experience considered a plus. Preferred candidates possess strong technical writing and verbal communication skills for presenting modeling results to stakeholders and conferences, and may hold a Master’s degree in a related discipline. Familiarity with AI‑assisted coding, version‑control systems, and web‑app development is advantageous.
