• Ensure safety of self and crew. • Support line workers to meet project goals. • Participate in storm restoration efforts. • Operate vehicles and heavy equipment professionally. • Follow established safety rules and company policies. • Inspect and maintain PPE and rubber goods. • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. • String overhead wire and set poles/anchors. • Assist with installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, cross‑arms, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Replace transformer fuses and clear faulted circuits. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Perform basic bucket rescue/escape and equipment grounding. • Climb wood or steel structures safely and use Kellum grips when needed. • Check voltage on transformers and install/remove services.

What You Bring

The Equipment Operator position utilizes heavy equipment operation knowledge in the construction and maintenance of the nation’s power grid, assisting the team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems. The role demands regular physical labor, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting over 50 lb, and working at heights or in confined spaces, while frequently being exposed to fumes, noise, vibration, and varied weather conditions typical of power‑line construction sites. Operators must obtain a CDL permit within 60 days, operate heavy equipment, communicate effectively, travel on short notice, and be willing to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed. • Demonstrate team‑orientation, self‑motivation, customer focus, and ethical conduct. • Use company radio, hand tools, and basic rigging techniques correctly. • Identify primary and secondary voltage and understand induced voltage. • Work at heights, in confined spaces, and handle excavation/shoring requirements. • Adapt to inclement weather and variable job site conditions.
