About the Role
The role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. It also involves establishing and maintaining positive relationships with front‑line employees, with most of the workday spent in the field alongside them. Key duties include providing tools, instruction, and feedback to new frontline employees, conducting daily onboarding meetings, maintaining regular performance touchpoints, reviewing best practices, and supporting employees’ career goals. The position also identifies improvement opportunities, leads safety initiatives, conducts root‑cause investigations for incidents, and ensures proper documentation and regulatory compliance. The job combines office and plant/field environments, requiring routine use of standard office equipment and occasional field work. • Provide tools, instruction, and feedback to new frontline employees for daily duties. • Conduct daily meetings with new frontline employees to ensure consistent onboarding communication. • Maintain regular touchpoints with frontline staff to support performance. • Review best practices regularly to improve daily operations. • Support frontline employees’ career goal development. • Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with staff to ensure success. • Seek feedback on coaching conversations and continuously refine coaching skills. • Lead by example on safety practices and teach the "WM Way." • Perform root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, applying discipline and retraining as needed. • Document and maintain records required by the Department of Transportation and other regulatory agencies. • Audit daily route operation documents (DVIRs, timecards, tickets) and follow up as required. • Visit customers and sites to assess and resolve safety issues and explore alternative services.

What You Bring
Two years of Transportation Management experience is preferred. Required qualifications are an associate’s degree (or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience), a minimum age of 18, legal work eligibility, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred candidates have completed the WM Operations Manager Trainee program. Candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative, as travel by air or access to federal property may be required.
