Job Highlights
About the Role
Your primary duty will be to confirm spill incidents quickly and ensure that regulatory bodies receive the required reports within a 24‑hour period, while also delivering up‑to‑date information to the public via the Rivers and Seas Watch platform. In addition, you will help build predictive models that highlight emerging spill patterns, allowing the organization to anticipate risks and improve operational planning. All employees are expected to support 24/7 incident response to ensure rapid resolution of water service issues, and interview discussions will cover any required out‑of‑hours support rotas. • Verify wastewater spill events using multiple data sources to meet 24‑hour regulatory reporting. • Provide real‑time spill updates to the public via the Rivers and Seas Watch app. • Enhance and maintain ASPIRE PIAF profiles to improve automated verification processes. • Conduct predictive analysis to identify trends, anomalies and emerging spill risks. • Perform root‑cause investigations and support targeted operational improvements. • Respond to regulatory information requests within statutory timeframes. • Assist with media queries and represent spill processes to internal and external stakeholders. • Represent Southern Water’s spill management approach at industry events and forums.

What You Bring
• Demonstrate a naturally curious, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail. • Communicate complex data and technical insights clearly and effectively. • Apply experience in data analytics, data science or related technical fields. • Possess knowledge of wastewater operations and regulatory frameworks (desirable). • Familiarity with ASPIRE, PRISM, PI and MS Office applications. • Proven ability to conduct root‑cause investigations. • Manage multiple demands and work at pace in a dynamic environment. • Hold a degree‑level qualification, preferably in environmental science, data science or a related discipline. • Knowledge of predictive analysis, statistical modelling or machine‑learning techniques (desirable).
