About the Role

The HVAC Controls Technician role is critical to ALC’s business through field commissioning of building‑automation systems tailored to each customer. The technician is self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, customer‑focused and serves as a role model for other field engineers, solving complex problems, training less‑experienced engineers and acting as the product and technical expert in the field. • Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems using advanced Direct Digital Control technology. • Serve as the local contact for technical issues and provide effective solutions for complex system problems. • Deliver turnkey projects on medium to large scale, ensuring proper operation of controls, sensors, and software. • Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports, and implement time‑management strategies for customer satisfaction. • Communicate and document project status and details for the customer. • Provide site‑specific training to owners and operators on the complete system.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of experience in building automation, HVAC or a related technical field, along with the ability to work at heights, lift up to 50 lb, and hold a valid driver’s license insurable by the company. Preferred credentials include an associate or bachelor’s degree, certifications in HVAC or controls, proficiency with advanced automation software such as WebCTRL, and strong networking, communication and teamwork skills. • High School Diploma or GED; 3+ years experience in building automation, HVAC, or a technical field. • Ability to climb ladders or use lift equipment over 8 ft and lift items up to 50 lb. • Valid, insurable driver’s license. • Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree or technical certificate in HVAC, controls, or related field. • Proficiency with advanced building‑automation software (e.g., WebCTRL) and installation of controls. • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technology. • Ability to integrate across diverse building‑automation systems and address multidisciplinary challenges. • Excellent communication skills; capable of explaining technical information to non‑technical audiences. • Team‑player with strong Microsoft 365 application skills.
