About the Role

Within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, engineers design critical infrastructure that powers the digital age, from high‑performance data centers to dynamic commercial spaces. The focus is on advancing technology, sustainability, and human experience by integrating mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil expertise. The Control Systems Team Lead in Folsom, CA will guide the Northern California BES control systems team, providing technical expertise, mentoring staff, and overseeing workflow, profitability, and quality. Acting as a technical lead, this role collaborates with multidiscipline teams throughout project lifecycles, from planning and design through construction administration. • Take responsibility for operations of the production section, including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control, and marketing support • May function as an Assistant Project Manager, assisting with production responsibilities on projects • Take administrative responsibility for section staff and technical service functions, and lead coordination with other sections • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews • Engage directly with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production, and related issues • Ensure work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through a proactive project management system • Implement, monitor, and support company policy • Assist in selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel • Collaborate with National Directors and marketing staff on local and national marketing and production efforts • Lead, produce, and coordinate the work of Control Systems Coordinators, EITs, and Engineers within a multidiscipline team throughout project development • Participate in project quality checks and reviews with governing agencies for technical content and code compliance • Coordinate workload for the control systems team to complete documents on schedule • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding control systems • Conduct schematic design development and contract document work sessions on‑site with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines • Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to meet schedule parameters

What You Bring

The position requires a blend of deep engineering knowledge and strong leadership, with responsibilities that include staff development, client engagement, coordination with other disciplines, and adherence to company policies. Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree, at least seven years of experience, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Involved in extracurricular activities or engineering societies such as IEEE or ISA • Excellent communication, leadership, and planning skills; strong ability to prepare client presentations, memoranda, and reports • 10 years of experience preferred • Professional Engineer licensure in Control Systems or related Mechanical/Electrical Engineering • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • Minimum of 7 years of experience • Professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role • Strong communication and listening skills • Ability to handle multiple assignments • Good leadership and organizational skills
