About the Role

The Superintendent 2 will plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity. The role includes managing material and equipment, assisting with people management, ensuring complete documentation, and meeting project goals for timely and profitable completion. All activities support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. • Lead safety culture, investigate incidents, and mentor staff for an injury‑free environment. • Manage subcontractors, staff, suppliers, and programs (Safety, Quality, EEO) on projects. • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work. • Coordinate site control and conduct daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings. • Create, manage, and adjust the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager. • Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system. • Communicate key project information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors, and suppliers. • Maintain project documentation, including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks. • Approve unit‑cost data and generate daily, weekly, and tracking reports. • Evaluate self‑perform work progress and make adjustments as needed. • Manage material and equipment procurement and approval processes. • Support Material and Other Costs (MOC) and Dunn Logistics Service Center procurement. • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment for self‑perform operations. • Approve timecards and ensure accurate cost‑code reporting. • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and external resources. • Supervise pre‑punch activities and coordinate project closeout with owners, architects, and authorities. • Participate in project pre‑planning, staffing, and ongoing schedule and cost adjustments. • Negotiate project changes with owners and architects and present at review meetings. • Prepare and present for project review and buy‑out meetings. • Recruit top talent and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion. • Manage stand‑alone projects from start to finish, overseeing scheduling, production, safety, and quality. • Identify, understand, and actively manage project risks. • Recommend problem‑solving solutions based on experience and knowledge. • Manage deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics. • Participate in project pursuits and negotiation processes for project changes. • Build strong relationships and collaborate across internal and external teams.

What You Bring

Autonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults the supervisor on other decisions. Career Path: Superintendent 3. The position requires accurate, timely work, strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to deliver effective presentations. Proficiency in MS Office, construction‑management fundamentals, project processes, relationship building, project‑management and accounting software, scheduling tools, Lean principles, and trade knowledge is essential. A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates need at least 5 years of construction experience and 3 years of field‑supervision experience; experience with Lean principles is a plus. A valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required, along with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work non‑traditional hours. Travel, relocation, and exposure to extreme weather conditions may be required. • Perform work accurately, completely, and on time. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; deliver presentations. • Proficient in MS Office, project management, accounting, and scheduling software. • Apply construction‑management fundamentals, Lean processes, and trade knowledge.
