About the Role

• Develop, qualify and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS/PQRs) to ASME, ISO, DGS and RRP standards. • Manage projects independently, meeting cost, schedule and delivery targets (SQCDP). • Lead and supervise on‑site repair activities, ensuring safety, quality and team welfare. • Provide technical welding expertise for complex repairs, installations and manufacturing. • Investigate welding issues and drive continuous improvement to reduce rework and downtime. • Oversee quality control, inspections and documentation across diverse projects. • Train, mentor and upskill welders to boost competency, productivity and quality. • Promote a strong safety culture, adhering to nuclear site rules, risk assessments and permit‑to‑work systems. • Work autonomously, managing time and priorities while supporting 12‑hour shift patterns and weekend deployments.

What You Bring

The position is based in Derby but requires travel to various UK sites, typically working 12‑hour shift patterns and spending about 90 days per year deployed. Flexible office hours are available when on‑site, ranging from 07:00 to 18:00. Candidates must obtain a Security Check clearance and be a UK national (or MoD‑approved dual national). Rolls‑Royce will support the clearance process if needed. The recruitment process may include an online aptitude assessment and aligns with the company’s multi‑year transformation programme aimed at building a resilient, competitive future. • Apply GTAW mechanised processes using technologies such as Polysoude, Arc Machines, Liburdi; experience with GMAW, SMAW and FCAW is beneficial. • Hold an IIW Welding diploma (IWE Level) or equivalent; IEng/CEng status preferred. • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to interact at all organisational levels. • Exhibit a proactive health‑and‑safety mindset and lead HS&E activities. • Possess physical capability to manoeuvre equipment around submarines and a valid UK driving licence. • Be prepared to attain Security Check clearance and meet UK nationality requirements.
