About the Role

The role is for an experienced Geomorphologist and River Restoration Project Lead within the UK Water team. You will be responsible for planning, managing, modelling, and designing sustainable geomorphology and river restoration schemes for a range of national and international clients. Current and recent projects include re‑meandering design and construction supervision for the River Breamish (SSSI/SAC), River Eye, and River Cocker, as well as nature recovery, wetland restoration, and large‑scale flood‑management planning across the North York Moors National Park. Additional work involves weir removals, fish passes, river‑basin restoration planning, and geomorphological management plans worldwide, including New Zealand. Key technical areas cover geomorphology and hydromorphology, river engineering with CDM compliance, hydraulic and sediment‑transport modelling, and the coordination of multi‑discipline teams throughout project delivery. You will also lead project management activities and ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met. All Water Environment team members engage directly with clients and handle commercial aspects of projects. As a senior geomorphologist you will mentor junior staff, act as a technical coach, and maintain strong relationships with regulators, water companies, and other stakeholders. • Lead planning, modelling, and design of river restoration schemes • Deliver high‑quality project execution and contractor supervision • Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams across all project phases • Apply hydraulic and sediment‑transport modelling techniques • Develop geomorphological management and flood‑hazard plans • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and health‑safety standards • Manage client relationships and commercial project aspects • Mentor and coach junior engineers and peers • Conduct WFD, BNG, and MoRPh surveys for UK and Ireland projects • Provide technical expertise in geomorphology and hydromorphology • Utilise project management best practices to meet delivery targets
