About the Role

The Field Inspector – Rail and Transit will be assigned to the Boston rail and transit project at 2 Frontage Rd. Working with minimal supervision, the inspector will execute field‑engineering tasks, enforce contract compliance, and ensure construction methods meet approved plans and standards. • Perform daily field inspections to verify work complies with approved plans and specifications. • Prepare daily field reports documenting progress, inspections, and issues. • Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities for safety and quality compliance. • Communicate site‑related construction challenges and assist in prompt resolution. • Review weekly schedule look‑aheads and estimate activity durations realistically. • Document non‑conformances, support quality control, and ensure corrective actions are taken. • Coordinate with other field inspectors and managers on site activities. • Work day/night shifts and weekends as required by the construction schedule. • Track and update logs for RFIs, NCRs, and other construction documentation. • Perform administrative duties and contribute to monthly progress reports under the Construction Manager’s guidance.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and have 5‑7+ years of field construction experience, preferably on large civil or structural projects. Strong written and oral communication, proficiency with MS Office, CAD and construction software, and the ability to lead on‑site activities are essential. Amtrak experience is a plus, and no security clearance is required. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction‑related field, or equivalent experience. • 5‑7+ years of field construction experience on large civil/structural or industrial projects. • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction processes and industry practices. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, ProCore, Adobe Acrobat, and familiarity with CAD software. • Strong oral and written communication, including meeting minutes preparation. • Ability to lead on‑site activities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. • Amtrak experience (preferred).
