About the Role
The Safety Manager will oversee the implementation of safety initiatives, guide project teams in developing site‑specific electrical safety programs, and conduct training and orientation sessions. They will mentor safety professionals, manage safety documentation and statistics, and perform audits and incident analyses to ensure compliance and continual improvement. • Provide safety oversight and leadership for Zero Injury Safety program across multiple project sites • Lead project teams in creating site‑specific electrical safety programs and activities • Identify training needs and deliver safety orientation, electrical training, and train‑the‑trainer sessions • Review safety submittals and attend pre‑construction meetings with subcontractors • Mentor and guide Safety Engineers, Senior Safety Engineers, and Coordinators • Oversee documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety, injury, hazard statistics and OSHA reports • Conduct work‑area safety audits • Assist with major incident investigations and analysis • Monitor subcontractor activities for safety compliance • Ensure implementation of safety controls and hazard analyses

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking a Safety Manager I for its Civil Operating Group to provide leadership, direction, and support within the company’s Zero Injury Safety program across multiple construction sites. The role requires interaction with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility, resourcefulness, professionalism, and confidentiality. The position involves 100 % travel anywhere in the United States and does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or an equivalent qualification, or possess extensive experience combined with certifications such as CHST and OSHA 500. At least six years of dedicated construction‑safety experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to travel full‑time are required; CSP certification is preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field (or equivalent experience) • Minimum six years of construction safety experience (or high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 10 years of continuous construction experience) • At least six years managing project safety programs, hazard analyses, controls, training, and work planning • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification preferred • Current driver’s license • Strong detail orientation and ability to manage multiple project tasks • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety‑related software • Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies • Effective public speaking, presentation, teamwork, problem‑solving, and leadership skills • Active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback • Willingness to travel up to 100 % • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and affirmative action plans
