About the Role
The 1st Shift Cleaner works under the Custodial Manager or Supervisor at C&W Services, performing custodial duties according to established standards and procedures. Typical responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, and washing floors and other interior surfaces, using both light and heavy commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines. The role also involves vacuuming rugs, spot‑cleaning and shampooing them as directed, dusting furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and conducting periodic high‑dusting. Additional tasks include cleaning interior glass, windowsills, and interior walls, maintaining bathrooms, restocking supplies, handling trash, and removing snow from entrances and walkways. • Sweep, mop, and wash floors and interior surfaces. • Operate commercial floor buffers and shampoo machines, including attachments. • Vacuum rugs in offices and public areas; spot‑clean and shampoo rugs as directed. • Dust furniture, exhibit cases, pictures, chairs, door trim, light fixtures, and perform periodic high‑dusting. • Clean interior glass, windowsills, and specified windows; wash entrance doors and interior/exterior trim. • Spot‑clean interior walls daily as needed. • Clean and restock bathrooms, including wiping glass, emptying waste baskets, servicing dispensers, dusting sills, cleaning tile walls, shelves, stalls, and sweeping/mopping/scrubbing floors. • Monitor and report defects such as clogged urinals or non‑functional lights. • Collect building trash daily, replace liners, and place waste in approved containers for removal. • Sweep or shovel snow from building entrances, walkways, and sidewalks as directed. • Perform periodic tasks such as high‑dusting, leather and wood surface polishing, and wall washing.

Periodic work may include high‑dusting, polishing leather and wood surfaces, wall washing, and any other duties assigned. The cleaner must be able to follow directions, work with minimal supervision, and cooperate as part of a team, using a portable backpack‑style vacuum and other cleaning equipment.
