About the Role
The Manager, Payroll is responsible for overseeing and executing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for a multi‑state, mid‑size organization. This role manages day‑to‑day payroll operations, ensures adherence to federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, and serves as a subject matter expert for payroll systems, audits, and reporting. The Manager leads payroll processing activities, supervises payroll staff where applicable, and partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll integrity and regulatory compliance. • Oversee full‑cycle bi‑weekly payroll processing, including review, auditing, approval, and submission. • Ensure payroll accuracy and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. • Review and approve timecards, pay adjustments, deductions, earnings codes, and leave balances. • Calculate, maintain, and reconcile payroll control totals; issue manual off‑cycle checks as needed. • Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, managing overtime, classifications, minimum wage, and paycheck timing. • Reconcile gross wages, withholdings, and employer taxes; coordinate quarterly and annual tax filings and W‑2 preparation. • Partner with Finance and third‑party vendors to reconcile tax filings, fringe benefit reporting, and audit requests. • Serve as primary payroll administrator for the HRIS, supporting system configuration, upgrades, and new earnings/deduction setups. • Maintain payroll records, investigate and resolve variances, and respond to employee inquiries promptly. • Supervise, train, and cross‑train payroll staff; develop and maintain SOPs for payroll processes and controls. • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Accounting, and Operations on employee lifecycle events; escalate complex issues as appropriate.

What You Bring
• Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute. • 3–5 years hands‑on full‑cycle payroll experience for a multi‑state, mid‑size organization, including tax and compliance responsibilities. • 2–3 years experience using ADP Workforce Now (strongly desired).
