About the Role

The Associate Director, Planning Policy role supports the leadership team in managing a growing portfolio of planning projects. The position can be based in multiple UK offices, offers hybrid working, and is available on a full‑time or part‑time basis to suit individual circumstances. • Lead and mentor town planning team members, providing line management and development. • Deliver key planning policy projects, including local plans, evidence studies, and infrastructure strategies. • Provide strategic planning advice to clients and internal teams. • Build and maintain relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders; represent AECOM at conferences. • Manage multi‑disciplinary project delivery, ensuring budget and timeline compliance. • Oversee quality assurance, health and safety, and deliverables from the planning policy team. • Drive business development by nurturing client relationships and preparing commercial tenders. • Produce high‑quality technical reports and communicate findings effectively.

What You Bring

• Significant experience in planning policy and strategy development in consultancy or public sector. • Strong client focus with excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; existing stakeholder networks. • Proven track record of winning work and expanding client relationships. • Hold a degree in Town Planning (or related) and membership of RTPI or equivalent professional body.
