Geotechnical Internship (Level 1)
Assist with geotechnical lab testing, drilling, surveying and data documentation.

About the Role
The role supports geotechnical field operations by assisting with laboratory testing, drafting boring logs and location diagrams, and scheduling drill rigs for projects. You will also obtain utility clearances, help develop subsurface exploration programs, and prepare drilling instructions. Field duties include performing boring and test pit layouts using conventional surveying and GPS, classifying soil samples, conducting hand augering, and observing foundation or ground improvement installations. • Assist with laboratory testing. • Draft boring logs and location diagrams. • Schedule drill rigs for geotechnical projects. • Obtain utility clearance for subsurface explorations. • Support subsurface exploration program and prepare drilling instructions. • Perform boring and test pit layouts using conventional surveying and GPS. • Classify soil samples. • Conduct hand augering to gather subsurface information and soil samples. • Observe foundation or ground improvement installations. • Provide suitable transportation for job sites (mileage reimbursed).

What You Bring
We are seeking a candidate who is actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, geology, or a related discipline. Ideal applicants have an interest in how structures are supported, can think creatively, and are able to provide their own transportation to job sites (mileage reimbursed). The position requires repeated lifting of 40–70 lb and occasional lifts of up to 85 lb to waist height. • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or related field. • Demonstrated interest in structural support and creative problem solving. • Capable of repeatedly lifting 40–70 lb and occasionally lifting 85 lb to waist height.
