Job Highlights
About the Role
Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side or rear lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle pick‑up service for containers that can exceed 1,000 lb, navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways and lots, requiring highly skilled backing maneuvers. Residential drivers collect household waste and recyclables, while roll‑off drivers prepare, load and move large open‑top or compactor containers, often in tight overhead industrial environments. • Operate vehicles following WM safety rules, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. • Report unsafe situations, incidents, accidents, and service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Attend required training, briefings and meetings as directed. • Collaborate with Operations Manager to improve route efficiency and share best practices. • Communicate customer requests and ensure receptacles are fully emptied and sites left clean. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out procedures. • Assist fellow drivers as needed to meet customer needs.
