About the Role
The foreman applies, removes, and repairs insulation on equipment, pipes, ductwork, and other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, hot and cold pipes, storage tanks and vessels, to help control noise and maintain temperatures. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints and work instructions, selecting appropriate insulation materials, preparing work sites, installing and securing insulation, handling hazardous waste, maintaining records, and complying with safety rules. • Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and documentation to plan work activities. • Determine required insulation material (sheet, tubular, roll) such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, or urethane based on heat retention, location, surface, shape, and equipment use. • Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up the work site. • Cover, seal, or finish insulated surfaces or access holes with plastic covers, canvas strips, sealants, tape, cement, or asphalt mastic. • Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulating materials and protective coverings as required. • Install sheet metal around insulated pipes with screws to protect insulation from weather and damage. • Measure and cut insulation using tape measures, handsaws, knives, and scissors. • Prepare surfaces for insulation by applying adhesives, cement, or asphalt, or attaching metal pins. • Secure insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape using staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun. • Follow all hazardous waste handling guidelines. • Remove or seal old asbestos insulation following safety procedures. • Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform cleanup and housekeeping activities. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment; perform other duties as required. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

What You Bring
The position requires precise work within defined accuracy standards, application of shop mathematics, ability to plan and select tools, visualize three‑dimensional objects from drawings, make measured decisions, and work at heights; a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience is preferred and the employee works under direct supervision following established guidelines. Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, occasional sitting, and the ability to lift, carry, push and pull loads up to 50 lb, as well as frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling.
