About the Role

The MEP Director will manage the London‑based MEP team, collaborate with senior directors across structures, civils, and sustainability, and oversee recruitment, training, and retention. Responsibilities also include reviewing project bids, ensuring technical correctness and on‑time delivery, maintaining profitability, and promoting cross‑selling among disciplines while reporting to the Office Principal on commercial and staffing matters. • Lead and develop the London‑based MEP team, managing utilization, recruitment, training, and performance reviews. • Coordinate MEP project delivery, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and profit targets; act as Project Lead on large, complex projects. • Support continuous improvement of technical design standards in partnership with MEP Technical Directors. • Oversee financial performance, including monthly job costing, profit and sales reporting, and quarterly board updates. • Drive business development by reviewing bids, setting sales targets, and achieving office revenue goals. • Manage resource allocation across projects, approve deliverables, and represent the team in client meetings. • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and supervise QA/QC execution. • Lead strategic planning, staffing prioritisation, and monitoring of regional operational metrics. • Mentor staff, develop personal development plans, and facilitate succession training for future engineering expertise.

What You Bring

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline, at least ten years of industry experience, and a strong record of leading large‑scale MEP projects. Desired qualifications include Chartered status (or pursuit thereof), expertise in MS Office and design software, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a commitment to HDR’s collaborative, employee‑owned culture. • Demonstrate strong presentation, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills. • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with at least 10 years of industry experience. • Maintain or pursue Chartered status and possess proficiency in MS Office and relevant design software.
