About the Role
The role provides leadership for centralized commercial resources and governance across the broader line of business, ensuring financial outcomes are maximized while meeting both Downer’s and the client’s operational objectives. Key responsibilities include ensuring commercial and risk compliance with Downer policies, offering commercial and risk advice aligned with legislative requirements, researching complex information to develop and implement business solutions, and collaborating with project teams to address financial impacts. The position also provides strategic direction on governance issues, analyses data to drive improvements, and identifies revenue and margin enhancement opportunities. • Ensure commercial and risk compliance with Downer policies and governance. • Provide commercial and risk advice to management teams in line with legislative requirements. • Research complex information and develop business solutions. • Collaborate with project teams to resolve financial issues affecting project performance. • Offer strategic direction on commercial and corporate governance matters. • Analyse data to identify and implement improvement initiatives. • Identify revenue and margin improvement opportunities. • Negotiated contracts within acceptable risk profiles following policies.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a tertiary or post‑graduate qualification in commercial or contract management (preferred), has experience on major construction or telecommunications projects, and possesses proven commercial and contract administration expertise within large organisations. Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills are essential for influencing stakeholders and managing relationships. • Hold a tertiary or post‑graduate qualification in commercial or contract management (preferred). • Experience on major construction or telecommunications projects. • Proven commercial and contract administration experience in large project teams. • Leadership experience managing complex commercial teams. • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder influence skills.
