About the Role
Provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering and design team, delivering safe, cost‑effective, quality services. Lead discipline work, perform charge engineering duties, manage schedules and budgets, and support proposal development and cost estimating. The role operates with minimal supervision in power transmission and substations, influencing moderate decisions and requiring tact. While no direct reports, the incumbent oversees the project team in preparing design drawings and collaborates daily with customers’ engineers. • Provide engineering expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve transmission line problems. • Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively. • Prepare thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, calculations, and drawings. • Continuously improve engineering knowledge, skills, and performance. • Create and interpret transmission line drawing packages. • Represent the company positively and support its strategic goals. • Interact daily with customers’ internal engineers and technical personnel. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients. • Monitor deliverables and schedules, presenting solutions to clients. • Oversee junior staff and mentor designers/drafters. • Apply standards such as NESC, ASCE, IEC, IEEE, and others to design work. • Utilize PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLS Tower software for line and structure design. • Estimate total installed costs and prepare detailed bills of material. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include an ABET‑accredited engineering bachelor’s degree, a Professional Engineer license, and eight to ten years of electrical industry experience in power delivery. Candidates must demonstrate strong oral and written communication, proficiency in reading and creating transmission line drawing packages, and the ability to produce accurate technical reports and calculations. Desired expertise encompasses extensive transmission‑line design experience at 69 kV and above, knowledge of standards such as NESC, ASCE, IEC, and IEEE, and competence with PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLS Tower design tools. Additional skills include cost estimating, MS Office proficiency, mentoring junior staff, and managing site‑related engineering issues. Physical demands are moderate, involving occasional standing, walking, and lifting of up to 25 lb, with regular sitting and communication. The work environment may include occasional outdoor conditions, moderate noise, and exposure to potential electrical shock risks. • Communicate clearly in both oral and written formats.
